If you think you are receiving a text message in error – or you no longer want to receive a premium SMS – then it is relatively easy to stop getting these premium SMS messages on your phone.
Thankfully, we have come a long way since the early days of SMS payments when a few unscrupulous businesses ran money-raking text scams and made it almost impossible for people to opt out and stop paying for things they didn’t want or need.
For most people today, blocking premium SMS is a simple, two-minute activity.
1. Text “STOP”
Under most countries’ regulations, all providers of premiums SMS or PSMS must provide clear information on how to stop receiving these text messages. In most cases, text the word “STOP” to the number provided at the bottom of the text, and you shouldn’t receive any more premium texts from them.
This works in the majority of cases, but…
2. If this does not work…
If it doesn’t work, contact your local monitoring organisation for premium SMS services and inform them of the fact that this particular company is not permitting you to opt out of their premium SMS messages.
3. Contact your mobile phone provider
Then contact your mobile service provider and ask them to block this premium SMS contact from your phone.
There – this should successfully block those premium SMS messages.
